Options for groceries
Sandi's Shopping Service - This is the easiest way ever to get groceries to the island. Sandi will send you detailed shopping list for you to fill out and fax back. When you get to the house, the groceries will be put in the fridge and neatly put away in cabinets for you. There is a 28% charge over grocery order for this.
How do we arrange grocery pick up
Prior to your trip you can fax your grocery order to Publix on Santa Barbara.
The FAX number is (239)458-7822. Their phone number is (239)458-8900. Please
call to insure that they received your FAX. Tell them you would like it packed
for boat transport. Try to be specific as you can about sizes and cuts of meat.
We have found them to be very accommodating and I think the more detailed the
list, the happier you will be with the shopping. Try to include everything you
will need. This includes bottled water, as the island has well water which is
safe to drink and use for cooking, but you may prefer bottled for drinking. Be
sure to order charcoal and lighter fluid for the BBQ. If you would like fresh
seafood, the taxi will make a stop at Andy’s Seafood on Pine Island. The seafood
is very fresh and the shrimp is great. They may charge for an extra stop, you
can check with the driver. There is a small convenience store on the island, but
the prices are much higher. You do not want to “fill in” items from there. They
carry things such as soda, milk, beer, water, cold cuts, bread. There is also a
selection of canned goods, cake mix, and candy. We provide the following items
for your rental: kitchen garbage bags, one roll of paper towels, dishwashing
detergent, one bar of soap per bathroom, a mesh style coffee filter and one roll
of toilet paper per bathroom. You may want to bring your spices with you, if you
know you will need them for a particular dish. Please note: If you are driving
-there is a Publix at Burnt Store Rd. and Pine Island Rd. It is just before you
would make the right turn onto Pine Island Rd. Please bring a large cooler if
you are driving and shopping yourself,as you must put all meat and dairy on ice.
Keep in mind that it will take another half hour to the marina and then waiting
time for the boat to depart. The boat ride is 30-45 minutes, so please ice
things down well.
